Roma suffer Rui blow

Roma have been dealt a blow ahead of the upcoming Serie A season with the news that defender Mario Rui has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

On Friday, the Portuguese sustained the injury during a training session in Boston where Luciano Spalletti s men are preparing for a friendly against Liverpool.

Medical examinations on Saturday revealed the extent of the issue, and Rui has consequently travelled back to Rome where he is expected to undergo arthroscopic surgery this week.

The 25-year-old is a recent arrival at the Stadio Olimpico on an initial loan from Empoli, for whom he had made almost 100 appearances since completing a switch from Parma in 2013.

The left-back was one of a number of defenders brought in by Spalletti in a bid to bolster…

Arsenal hope good relationship with Aubameyang’s father will help with new deal

Arsenal are hoping that their good relationship with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang s father will help them convince the striker to sign a new contract, according to The Telegraph.

The current deal binding the Gabonese to the Gunners expires in a year, and unless an extension is agreed soon, they may be forced to agree a sale in order to lose him for free at the end of next season. They are keen to keep hold of the man who shared the Premier League Golden Boot with Liverpool s Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in 2018/19, and whose contribution on the pitch has often been of vital importance.

Aubameyang arrived to the Emirates from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018, and the name of his father Pierre-Francois, who also acts as his agent, was on the official FA paperwork.

Pogba lauds legendary Rooney after England retirement

Paul Pogba described former Manchester United team-mate Wayne Rooney as a legend after England s all-time leading goalscorer retired from international football.

After 53 goals and 119 caps for England, national team captain Rooney called it quits on Wednesday.

Rooney had not represented England since November last year but a recall appeared on the cards having hit the ground running at boyhood club Everton following his arrival from United, scoring two goals in as many Premier League matches.

However, after becoming only the second player to reach 200 Premier League goals, Rooney has opted to focus on his club career.

You always miss a captain and a legend like him because he s got experience and he s won trophies. Pogba told Sky Sports.

Maradona at 60: Legend Diego and Lionel Messi are best we´ve seen, says Barcelona boss Koeman

Koeman s legacy as coach at Camp Nou may be in priming the likes of teenagers Fati and Pedri for long and successful careers with Barcelona.

Fati turns 18 on Saturday, while 17-year-old Pedri has his birthday in November.

Both have the backing of Koeman, who has not shied away from using them in Barcelona s biggest games recently.

He started with the duo in El Clasico last weekend, with Fati scoring Barcelona s goal in a 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid. Pedri was then in the XI for the Champions League clash with Juventus on Wednesday, and Fati came on midway through the second half as the Blaugrana scored a morale-boosting 2-0 victory.

With four goals in his opening five LaLiga games this season, Fati is outshining even Messi, who has netted just once.

Der Klassiker: What´s gone wrong for Dortmund superstar Sancho?

Jadon Sancho remained at Borussia Dortmund for this season, but things are not quite going to plan for the England man.

This year s blockbuster will he, won t he transfer saga saw Manchester United repeatedly linked with a €120million swoop for the winger, only for no such move to materialise.

Instead, Sancho was expected to star again in the Bundesliga ahead of more speculation in the coming windows.

But while Dortmund have started well in 2020-21 and are level on points with leaders Bayern Munich ahead of this week s Klassiker, Sancho has not been so impressive.

He has played five of BVB s six league games but is yet to score and has supplied just two assists in a disappointing early return.

Splitgate 2 is AAA, 1047 Games Expanded to Over 170 Employees

Splitgate saw an explosion of popularity in 2021, and though it earned more than a few fans with its “Halo meets Portal” elevator pitch, the multiplayer shooter was obviously no on the same level as other, major multiplayer shooters on the market. That was something that developer 1047 Games, too, was seemingly keenly aware of, with the studio emphasizing that the recently-announced Splitgate 2 is a full-fledged AAA production.

Writing on Xbox Wire, 1047 Games’ head of marketing Hilary Goldstein said that one of the development team’s primary goals was to ensure that Splitgate 2, unlike its predecessor, is a full-fledged AAA experience.

“How do you follow up a viral hit? Just ma…

Juventus interest in Cissokho confirmed

The agent of Lyon defender Aly Cissokho has confirmed that Juventus are interested in signing his client.

The 24-year-old full-back is looking for a new challenge and he was expected to leave Gerland before the transfer window closes in January.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas recently revealed that the club are willing to listen to offers for the full-back.

The player, who has a contract until June 2014 with les Gones, has been linked with Liverpool, Newcastle and Juventus of late.

Cissokho’s representative has now moved to confirm that Juventus are keen on the French international.

“Juventus appreciates Aly, but they will not make an offer this winter,” Barat Ali told Le Parisien.

The agent also claims that the player is unlikely…
